How to Make the Most out of your Intentions for 2018
December 20, 2017 No comments

It's December, the final month of the year, and your mind is a whirlwind between holiday shopping, family time, cooking and who know what else. Oh yeah, maybe a yoga class squeezed in there somewhere?

Now it's almost time to set your New Year's resolutions and you're not even sure where to start.

In between all of the madness, make sure you take some time out for yourself and collect your thoughts on all you achieved in 2017 and what desires you wish to manifest in 2018. It's important when thinking back on any goals or intentions you set in the past year (or set at the beginning of the year) that you focus on what you DID achieve instead of the things that may not have happened (yet). Our desires change all the time, so even if your achievements were not exactly what you set out to do at the beginning of this year, you can look at the positive of what did occur to help you steer the ship of your life through setting new intentions for the coming year ahead.

It is now time to process all we have gone through in the last year and make the next one the best one yet. It is time to review and recalibrate, to take aim at what you wish to call in and let go of what no longer serves you.

But how?

Aim High for 2018

Step 1

Remember that your thoughts create things. So instead of setting typical “resolutions”, write down what you want in a way that is affirmative. Often, New Year's resolutions are set in stone and people forget them after the first week. But, if you desire something and think/write/say it in a positive way (as if you already have it or it has already happened), then the chances of you sticking with it are much higher.

Take a few moments to think of what your heart desires for 2018. Then, write it down as such: “I intend to ____________ in 2018 for the greatest good of myself and the greatest good of the world.”

Step 2

Be grateful! Whatever your intention may be, fill yourself with gratitude for it, the challenges you have been through to get here, and even the challenges that lie ahead.

Whenever you fill your life with more gratitude for things in your life, the more you will see them show up. So whether that's staying on track with going to yoga class regularly or eating more healthy, you have to actually change your mindset FIRST in order to enact real change in your life.

Remember, your desire to change must be greater than your desire to stay the same! So be grateful for change, too.

Write or say aloud your gratitude statement as follows: “I am grateful for __________. Thank you so much for __________. I deserve ___________ because it is in my greatest good.”

Step 3

So what about when things get rough? You may fall off track or fall victim to negative self-talk. Give yourself gentle reminders on your phone or using post-it notes so you can stay on track. Give yourself permission to LET GO of the negative self-talk, even if you do fall off track!

Know that the path to success in what you desire to achieve is never a straight line. There are ups and downs and spirals all around. Ride the wave and know that it is a part of the process. Find a friend and talk. Grab your journal and get that negativity OUT!

Notice how you feel and then jump up to take inspired action in YOUR life!
